Illegal dumping occurs when materials are abandoned along roads, near dumpsters, in vacant lots, or in open spaces instead of being properly disposed of.
Frequently dumped items in Monterey County include furniture, mattresses and box springs, appliances and electronic waste, construction and demolition debris, tires and rims, and hazardous materials.
Many of these items qualify for free or low-cost disposal services, making illegal dumping both unnecessary and unlawful.

ReGen Monterey is an active partner in the Illegal Dumping and Litter Abatement Task Force (IDLATF), a regional collaboration focused on reducing illegal dumping and coordinating cleanup efforts across Monterey County.

In addition to regional coordination, ReGen Monterey supports local litter prevention efforts year-round.
ReGen sponsors northbound and southbound segments of Highway 1 leading to and from our facility and partners with Citizens for Sustainable Marina to help maintain Lapiz Road and Del Monte Avenue — rural corridors surrounded by farmland near our facility.
