ReGen Monterey’s Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Facility accepts select items from residents and small businesses within the ReGen service area, free of charge. With your help, we are able to reuse or recycle hazardous and electronic products collected from area residents and keep these toxic materials out of the landfill.
• Residents: Limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per drop-off
• Small businesses: 27 gallons or 220 pounds per month, with approvals as outlined below
• Household batteries, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, and items containing mercury, such as fluorescent light bulbs and thermostats
• Household products: cleaners, aerosols, solvents and pest control items
• Building products: paint, stain, varnish, sealers, adhesives, thinners and roofing cements
• Outdoor products: pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and pool and hot tub chemicals
• Auto products: fuel, motor oil, filters, cleaners, solvents, antifreeze, fluids and car batteries
• Health and personal care products: over-the-counter medications, medical sharps, nail polish, hair-coloring products and other beauty supplies
• Cooking oil: up to 15 gallons in a sealed, labeled plastic container
• Propane tanks (up to 5 gallons)
• Photo development products
• Lead
• Non-friable asbestos (requires special handling and pre-approval)
While ReGen Monterey welcomes general disposal, recycling and reuse drop-offs from anyone, the agency can only accept household hazardous waste from residents and businesses within its service area. That service area includes:
