On Thursday, KSBW News interviewed Tim Flanagan, GM at MRWMD and Veterans Transition Center staff to learn more about the reopening of the Last Chance Mercantile, a favorite reuse store, MRWMD has operated for the last 30 years. The store is slated to reopen this summer. Flanagan, stated that the District’s partnership with VTC (Veterans Transition Center) allows the reopening of the store and the District to get back to the reuse portion of its mission. The VTC’s staff stated that “the new mission will be more than just re-use, it’ll also be about helping homeless vets reintegrate into society. The Veterans Transition Center will offer job opportunities and training to homeless veterans at the store.” Stay tuned for more details on the opening.
